Iraq consists of more than 100 civilian and military airports. Major airports include:

1. Baghdad International Airport (IATA: BGW, ICAO: ORBI). It is Iraq’s largest airport located in a suburb about 16 km (10 miles) west of downtown Baghdad in the Baghdad Governorate.

2. Basra International Airport (IATA: BSR, ICAO: ORMM) is the second largest international airport in Iraq, and is located in the southern city of Basra.

3. Erbil International Airport (IATA: EBL, ICAO: ORER) is located in the north western part of the city of Erbil adjacent to the suburb of Ankawa in Iraqi Kurdistan. It is administered by the Kurdistan Regional Government under a special committee of the Prime Minister. www.erbilairport.net

4. Ibn Firnas Airport is located in northern Baghdad and is named after the Muslim scientist Abbas Ibn Firnas.

5. Mosul International Airport (IATA: OSM, ICAO: ORBM) is located at Mosul, Iraq and originally built in 1920 by Great Britain for their military army. It reopened as a civilian airport on 2 December 2007.

6. Sulaimaniyah International Airport (IATA: ISU, ICAO: ORSU) is located 15 kilometers outside of the city of Sulaimaniyah, in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. It is administered by the Kurdistan Regional Government under a special committee of the Prime Minister.`www.sulairport.net
